Honor’s pre-launch campaign for its next crop of premium mid-range Android smartphones has already yielded a number of potentially juicy details. The 80 series is now more officially associated with 160MP as a maximum resolution in terms of main cameras. It is also now tipped to get a brand-new Qualcomm SoC – that is not, moreover, the 8 Gen 2.

Honor has already confirmed that successors to the 70 series of mid-tier Android smartphones are on the way. Its flagship was projected to become their OEM’s first-gen 200MP camera device on its launch prior to this announcement; however, the latest teasers suggest otherwise.

160MP has also been thrown around as the best spec available to the Honor 80 series; now, a new official poster also now strongly hints at this figure, both in its Chinese-language title and in its footnotes. The spec might apply to the Honor 70 Pro Plus’ successor.

It and its siblings are also now officially slated to be among the first to switch to its maker’s latest Android skin, now to be called MagicOS rather than Magic UI as it was known previously.

Another leak relating this updated software contains the number “782G“, which might invite speculation that the vanilla Honor 80 will launch with a new Snapdragon SoC of this name, serving as an upgrade for silicon such as the 778G of the Honor 70. Should that be the case, it has had its imminent debut at the ongoing Snapdragon Summit spoiled by this leak.

Then again, the material in question did not come direct from Honor this time; in addition, Qualcomm mid-range processors go by the Snapdragon 7 Gen x naming scheme now.
